In free afterschool programs sponsored by Mosser Village Family Center, children learn and have fun in a safe, supervised environment. Run in partnership with the Allentown School District and funded by a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant, afterschool programs are currently held in Mosser and Sheridan Elementary Schools beginning in early October and ending in early June.
The program starts at 3:15 with dinner and social time. From 3:45 to 5:15 the students focus on homework with help and tutoring available from teachers who work in the program. During the final hour, students take part in hands-on activities focused on science, the arts, math, and language.
The Mosser Village Family Center staff works with staff at each school to identify goals and outcomes for the afterschool program at that site, and to develop activities to attain those outcomes.
