In free afterschool programs sponsored by Mosser Village Family Center, children learned and had fun in a safe, supervised environment. Run in partnership with the Allentown School District and funded by a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant, afterschool programs were held in Mosser and Sheridan Elementary Schools.
The program started at 3:15 with dinner and social time. From 3:45 to 5:15 the students focused on homework with help and tutoring available from teachers working in the program. During the final hour, students took part in hands-on activities focused on science, the arts, math, and language.
The Mosser Village Family Center staff worked with staff at each school to identify goals and outcomes for the afterschool program at that site, and to develop activities to attain those outcomes.
